There are many opportunities at Plano Senior for parents and community partners to get involved!  

 

All PTSA positions are crucial to the success of the PSHS PTSA.

 

With this in mind, please take a look at the “Board and Committee Positions with Descriptions,” choose a job you would like to do, and let us know that you are interested through the "Interest Form."

Officers:

 ___ President

Coordinate the work of the officers and committee chairmen. Presides over all meetings of the association, and represents the local unit as a delegate to council, State and National PTA.

 ___ 1st VP of Membership

To recruit PTA members, keep current list of membership, and head up the committee to select PTA Life Members.

 ___ 2nd VP of Communication

Oversee the eNews, press releases, social media, website and other communications that originate from PTSA.

 ___ 3rd VP of Volunteers

Organizes and coordinates all volunteer programs and/or activities. Maintains records of all volunteer hours.

 

 

___ 4th VP of Ways and Means

Organizes and coordinates all fundraising activities and develops fundraising strategy.

 ___ Secretary

Records minutes of all meetings, notifies board members of upcoming meetings, keeps attendance records and maintains PTA office supplies. Maintain the required documents of the association.

 ___ Treasurer

Acts as custodian of all PTA funds, maintains all bank records and presents financial statements, and prepares tax return for year served. Also serves as chairman of the budget committee.

 ___ Parliamentarian

Coordinates yearly by-law review committee and nominating committee. Attends all PTA meetings. Advice the presiding officer on parliamentary procedures.

 

STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS AND DUTIES:

 ___ Programs: responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation and coordination of the PTSA’s educational, parenting and special programs sponsored by the PTSA.  Works with Arts in Education, Diversity and Sage Chairman to coordinate activities and communications.

 

___ Hospitality: coordinates hospitality events for teachers and staff and coordinates volunteers and food for the council of PTAs luncheon.

 

___ Council Delegate: attend monthly meetings of the Plano ISD Council of PTAs and present a report at the subsequent PTSA Board Meetings.

 

___ Corresponding Secretary: coordinate any written correspondence of the PTSA i.e. Thank you notes, etc.

  

___ Community Outreach: Work with PISD Council Community Outreach Chair, providing necessary resources to support and promote district-wide initiatives, helping schools with limited resources. Chair will work with the PSHS administrators in support of our students and families in need. Communicate this information, as needed, to our school community to engage their participation.

 

___ Senior Plano After Prom: responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation and
coordination of the PSHS After Prom Event.

 

___ Senior Lunch: responsible for the overall planning, organization, implementation and coordination of the PSHS Senior Lunch.

 

___ Spirit Committee: support and promote spirit for future Wildcats with feeder schools from elementary and up.  Reach out to schools with promotional items and motivating activities that encourage enthusiasm and pride for students who will attend PSHS.

 

___ Spirit Wear: responsible for designing, ordering, selling and keeping inventory of spirit wear and spirit items.

 

___ Student Representative: responsible to the board for updates from the student body and student; organizations, i.e. Student Council.

 

SPECIAL COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS AND DUTIES:

___ Arts in Education: schedule, plan and coordinate the Reflections program, submit entries to Council.

 

___ Practice Test Coordinator: coordinate, schedule and administer practice college entrance exams by working with an outside test company.

 

___ SAGE (Special and Gifted Education): support and promote awareness of the activities of the SAGE organizations in the community

 

___ Scholarships: maintain a detailed record of designated scholarship monies.  Provide required reports and information to the treasurer regarding scholarships.  Prepare scholarship letter(s) that includes detailed procedures and deadlines for claiming the scholarships.

 

___ Stay Day: coordinate, schedule vendors for STUCO sponsored stay day events.

 

___ Ticket Sales: coordinate ticket sales for PSHS Homecoming, Senior Prom and Plano After Prom.
